DetailsDay tour from Yerevan
Lake Sevan lies at about 1,900 metres and is one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world. On its peninsula stands Sevanavank, a 9th-century monastery with wide views over the water.
Across the pass is Dilijan, a green resort town in the forests of Tavush. We walk its restored old street of craft workshops and visit Haghartsin, a medieval monastery hidden in the woods.
Even in summer it is much cooler at Sevan than in Yerevan — bring a light jacket.
