DetailsJeep tour from Yerevan
Aragats is Armenia’s highest mountain, its northern summit reaching 4,090 metres. Most visitors see its southern slope and Lake Kari; the northern slope is much quieter, reached by a mountain track across alpine meadows.
From the village of Geghadzor we drive up by 4×4 to Lake Rapi, lying below the peaks at about 3,000 metres. At the lake there is time for a walk, a picnic and the views of the Aragats summits.
The season runs from July to October, when the track is free of snow; in bad weather we move the trip to another day. Even in summer it is cold and windy at the top — bring a warm jacket.
